In our never ending quest of attempting to find people from our community who are committed to giving back positivity and hope, we ran across a fellow named Manuel Hernandez affectionately called “Mannie.”
Mannie has devoted his time and energy to build awareness to the children of Camden and some of the plights they may go through in such a tough city. He has found a unique way to bring generations of Camdenites together with his brand “#camdenkids, which he purposefully states….we all were kids at one time.
CamdenOne: Mannie, tell us about what you have going on?
Mannie: Well right now, I have a line of t-shirts with the hashtag camdenkids. As things grow, I want to also include activities for the kids of Camden, for instance an event in the park, at least once a year.
CamdenOne: So your goal is for your brand to be more than just t-shirts, you want to begin a movement focusing on the children of Camden?
Mannie: Yes, certainly. A movement including mentorship for the youth and grow it bigger and bigger from there. Hopefully I can get the support for the community to come aboard and help us out in any area possible.
CamdenOne: You’re looking to connect with others from the community that are doing positive things?
Mannie: Yes, I would love to connect with others, even if they are not from Camden, if they want Camden to grow, it’ll be a good look for anybody.
CamdenOne: That’s great and Im sure it’s much needed. How did you choose the name for your T-shirt line?
Mannie: Well I was taking pictures one day, but I dont have a camera, so I came across an app that allowed hashtags and I kept using #camdenkids. From there, one day I seen a design and wanted to come up with a shirt and I figured it would sell faster than the other designs I had.
CamdenOne: Your designs can be found on social media as #camdenkids?
Mannie: Yes, #camdenkids or you can check the camdenkids Instagram page.
CamdenOne: Ok, who is your target market, is it just geared towards the youth?
Mannie: No, my clothing line is for the youth and adults. We carry multiple sizes for all. Most of us have kids now and us adults were once Camden Kids themselves, so it’s basically for everybody in the Camden.
CamdenOne: What are the prices for your Tshirts?
Mannie: Small- 2x in adults are $23, kids sizes are all $15 and coming in sizes XS- XL
CamdenOne: Ok, thank you for your time and commitment to doing something positive for the youth in our City, I’ll ask this last questions, where can your items be purchased?
Mannie: I can be contacted personally for orders at 856-347-0808, however I have a brand new website where customers can see the various designs and make purchase there. It’s www.camdenkidsshop.webs.com.
